Cool things to do with tumaBox
I know you already know you have a wonderful box. But the possibilities are even greater. Here is a list of things you might have not thought of.
Check out XBMC plug-ins - there are tons of them. In order to do so power up tumaBox and your TV (or monitor) and go to System → Settings → Add-ons. You will find plug-ins that give you access to films, music, shows, documentaries, podcasts and much more. You will also find plug-ins to automatically retrieve information, posters and subtitles for your video or audio collection.
Install the official XBMC remote app on your Android or iOS device. It will allow you to control tumaBox mediaplayer directly from your phone or tablet. Find more information on the official page
Activate the XBMC web interface and access your media player resources from any computer, phone or tablet. For more information see the official page
. If you want to access it from anywhere on the internet don't forget to allow the necessary port in your firewall configuration. Please note that this might have security implications - do not proceed unless you know what you're doing.
Check out Openmediavault plug-ins. Open up a browser and connect to your tumaBox configuration page (usually http://192.168.1.1
). You will find them listed under System → Plug-ins. If you like living on the edge you can enable experimental plug-ins as well. Check out the necessary options at System → OMV-Extras.org
Install Owncloud and get your very own personal cloud. We do have plans to add this to tumaBox. Until then you should install it manually.
Set-up automatic back-ups for your devices using rsync from tumaBox.

For the advanced user
You have a fully fledged powerfull Debian system on your hand and being an advanced user you surely know what this means. You can connect with ssh, setup a spiced up web server with the DB of choice, setup a complete vpn, throttle and filter traffic as you wish and God knows what else. This is a real computer with real software at your disposal. No more waiting eternities for a service restart, no more app doesn't fit in the tiny EPROM, no more resets because of too many simultaneous connections, no more any other such goodies that todays SoCs provide. Enjoy the fully fledged computer with virtually no noise and tiny power drainage at your service.
